According to the plan’s section “The Challenge of Mobility”, the German government will boost the use of natural gas vehicles while tax concession for natural gas should also continue indefinitely as a firm intention to confirm that this fuel is an important element in curbing CO2 emissions in the transport sector.
“With its commitment, the government is demonstrating that natural gas with biomethane is the cleanest and most economical fuel available and will be an essential component in the fuel mix of the future,” said the CEO of the industry association erdgas mobil Timm Kehler.
In turn, this plan gives long-term planning security to both gas distributors and vehicle manufacturers and will help the market to develop even more dynamically, according to the industry association. It also provides a clear signal to station operators to continue investing in the alternative fuel.
It is worth mentioning that Germany will be hosting the next appointment of the industry. NGV2011 Berlin will take place in June 7-9, 2011. This is an event of NGVA Europe, hosted by Erdgas Mobil. For more information, please contact info@ngv2011berlin.com.
