According to calculations verified by Hyundai, a taxi that runs 400 kilometers in an average shift of 24 hours in Bogota will spend US$39.25 in gasoline, with an average range of 50 kilometers per gallon. However, if using CNG, this consumption is approaching US$27.26, about 42 cubic meters.
To make the CNG conversion maintains the quality standards required by Hyundai, the automaker’s engineers, along with specialists from NGV Motori, developed a protocol for natural gas equipment installation and maintenance in the City Taxi. This features the same Epsilon engine than Atos model, with some variations in weight and power, which increased to 68 horsepower.
It is worth recalling that the next NGV industry meeting will take place in the Colombian city of Cartagena. NGV2013 Colombia –Latin America’s major International Conference and Exhibition on Natural Gas Vehicles in 2013- arrives at a promising time for the local market, which has a number of such initiatives already in progress seeking to consolidate the business expansion.
