Tata Motors, the contractor for CNG buses for AJL, sent its first unit to Ahmedabad last Wednesday. According to AJL officials, they will start deploying the vehicles once the procedure of registration with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) is completed, reported DNA India.
“The first bus will start plying on the city’s roads within a week. We will not wait for the entire lot of 35 units to arrive but will start rolling out the vehicles as and when they reach here,” said deputy municipal commissioner and executive director of AJL, UC Padia.
It is worth mentioning that the Ahmedabad’s RTO has recently announced that the city has almost doubled the number of compressed natural gas vehicles during the last two years. Currently, the city has 27,112 CNG cars and 71,891 CNG autorickshaws.
