According to Rajasa, the government will continue to guarantee the availability of fuel oils but under the 2012 State Budget supplies will be limited to 40 million kiloliters. “Therefore, we have to increasingly diversify our energy sources away from oil, and we will push the growing use of these new fuels starting from now,” he explained.
“We’ll also open the opportunity for private cars to switch to natural gas, but the kit may not be free” added Rajasa. “The most important thing is that the limitation on the distribution of subsidized fuels has to be implemented this year and gradually we’ll develop the use of LNG and CNG.”
Furthermore, PT Pertamina, the state-owned company that produces and distributes natural gas under the brand of Vi-gas, plans to set up a CNG “mother” station and four “daughter” stations this year in Indonesia’s capital, as published by The Jakarta Post.
