“We already produced a car that uses compressed natural gas, but before we can start to market it, we have to make sure that the infrastructure is there,” the president director of Tata Motors Indonesia, Biswadev Sengupta, explained, as reported by The Jakarta Globe.
Currently, there are 21 natural gas filling stations operational in Jakarta and 100 additional under construction. Moreover, the government seeks to convert public transport fleet to CNG, including the distribution of conversion kits for operators and a plan to construct 33 more refueling sites throughout the country.
“There are many people who have started installing the kits in their cars, both in public transportation vehicles and private cars,” revealed MM Christianti, manager of kit distributor Autogas Indonesia.
