With the operation of the first 10 trucks with natural gas engine, Grupo Transportes Monterrey (GTM) was able to stop emitting 288 tons of CO2 per vehicle, results that allow the company to analyze the expansion of this fleet. Jorge Casares López, CEO of GTM shared the strategy defined for 2017 according to which they foresee the acquisition of 20 more trucks with this type of engines and that contribute to the sustainable approach promoted by the company.
“We have the goal to keep in this line, and in the period 2018-2021 we consider to have a vehicle fleet with 140-150 trucks with this type of engine,” said Casares López to the magazine T21.
According to the manager of GTM, this type of vehicles must be integrated in a dynamics of greater efficiency and productivity, and therefore they operate in long haul applications that allow them to reach routes of up to 22,000 kilometers.
CNG trucks are one of GTM’s priorities in its sustainability strategy, which incorporates other elements such as waste management and facilities with eco-technologies.
