On this subject, chairwoman of the city government-owned public transport RTP Ariadna Montiel Reyes said that “encouraging people to stop using private transportation is beneficial to the environment and mobility; as a result we are offering a convenient fast and accessible option that has significantly helped to improve transit.”
The 30 compressed natural gas powered buses that make up the RTP fleet since last June reduce the emission of particles by 100%, the carbon monoxide up to 99.98%, the nitrogen oxides by 50% and hydrocarbon emissions by 11.5%.
“We should not see Santa Fe as a development centre for wealthy people because there are nearly half a million people who go there just to work or to provide services. The Eco-bus serves these citizens,” Montiel Reyes explained.
