During the first eight months of this year, sales of OEM NGVs reached 3,334 units (1,147 Tritons and 2,187 Lancers). This figure represents the 14.5 per cent of Mitsubishi’s total domestic sales.
Moreover, in 2010, the automaker sold 5,857 passenger cars in Thailand, 42 per cent of them were propelled by natural gas.
Company’s vice president in Thailand, Koji Nakahara, said: “The plant is currently able to produce about 400 CNG vehicles per month, while orders exceed 1,000 units per month. We must increase production of the CNG models quickly in order to deliver the vehicles as soon as possible”.
Businessman added that NGVs demand grows as well as the number of CNG refuelling stations, both of which help to boost the market share significantly.
