The supervisor of the Distribution and Trading of Natural Gas Division from Osinergmin, Carlos Villalobos, told La República newspaper: “The transportation of compressed natural gas by trucks from Lima to Arequipa has been carried out for over a month and the Municipality of Arequipa has been promoting this initiative so far.”
Some weeks ago, the President of the Council of Ministers Salomon Lerner announced that the government will come to an agreement with Repsol to transport CNG from Camisea to the south region by mobile pipeline system. He added that the fuel will be used in household, industrial and vehicular applications.
In early July, the Provincial Municipality of Arequipa presented the first region’s compressed natural gas powered bus, which will provide service in the upcoming Integrated Transport System, also known as Arequipa Bus.
