CAPEC president revealed that, in recent meetings with the Secretary of Energy, both parties discussed on the medium-duty vehicles segment. “These units used to operate on CNG but because of the renewal of fleets, they turned to diesel when its price was stable and there was a cost difference with gasoline. Now, we should convert them back to run on compressed natural gas,” he stated.
To make possible this medium-duty transport conversion project, which is encouraged by both CAPEC and the Argentine Chamber for CNG (CAGNC), Diviani said that the association he leads is holding negotiations with Banco Nación (the National Bank) to obtain credit facilities for users and conversion workshops in order to help financing the installation of kits throughout the country.
Finally, he highlighted that the use of CNG in high-end vehicles will be continuously stimulated with the “promotion of fifth generation equipments and new technologies.”
