Oshiomhole made the call during the opening of the Nissan Motors Centre in Benin, Edo’s capital, and asked SDD Motors Nigerian Limited and Nissan Motors International to begin to explore the use of alternative source of energies, such as CNG, since “Nigeria is very rich in abundant natural gas”.
“Nissan Motors should consider the use of compressed natural gas by collaborating with Nipco (Nigerian Gas Company) in this regard. Besides extending the life span of a vehicle, the use of CNG promotes a cleaner and healthier environment,” said the governor.
He also added that Nipco has both natural gas and the “handling of the technology” to convert vehicles, and is already well established in Benin with about four workshops as outlets, reported Vanguard Online Edition.
