Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the company responsible for installing CNG workshops and filling stations around the emirate and part of Northern Emirates, expects that 500 units will converted to natural gas, as published by Khaleej Times website. ADNOC has the support of the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, the Civil Defence, the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, the Federal Environment Agency, the Mubadala and the Department of Transport to execute this project.
Besides, Abu Dhabi Company for Offshore Oil Operations (ADCO) is currently converting 25 vehicles and 79 taxis to CNG (117 units have been already switched).
Regarding CNG fuelling network, ADNOC reported that there are 19 dispensing points operational at present in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Sharjah. Moreover, 11 additional stations will be set up in three cities next year.
The whole NGV plan includes laying an extensive pipeline network to transport natural gas to filling stations.
