According to Sharif, 350 modern buses have been imported from Turkey, out of which 200 have already arrived in Lahore whereas 150 are under clearance process in Karachi. The initiative is being launched in collaboration with private sector and laborers, workers, students and employees will especially benefit from it.
Moreover, the chief minister disclosed that the Bus Rapid Transit Authority will be set up for running the Metro Bus Service for which necessary legislation will be made. This service will be available every two minutes and modern bus stop will be constructed for the convenience of commuters.
The announcement was made at a meeting, headed by Sharif, held with regard to modernizing the public transport system in the province of Punjab, and was attended by Bus Rapid Transit System Chairman Mehar Ishtiaq and Planning & Development chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, among other officials, reported The News.
