The first stage of the project includes the construction of a refueling site in a land of 2,500 m2 given by the Regional Government of Ayacucho to serve CNG powered vehicles, and also the installation of a natural gas plant, which will be located in the town of Uchuypampa, in the district of Tambillo.
Presidential adviser of the Regional Government of Ayacucho, Pedro Pizarro, mentioned that the execution of this mega project will begin in about two or three months and is expected to be completed by December 2014, as announced by the Minister of Energy and Mining Eleodoro Mayorga.
“We already have the land for the construction of the plant in Uchuypampa, as well as land where the refueling station will be installed, which is being carried out by the Regional Government, following the agreement signed,” said the presidential adviser. Nine more cities in the central and southern part of the country will benefit from this project (Abancay, Andahuaylas, Huanta, Huancavelica, Huancayo, Jauja, Cusco, Juliaca and Puno) where there will be CNG stations for vehicles service.
It is noteworthy that vehicle owners will have access to the compensation fund for the conversion from gasoline to natural gas fuel system, which will be funded by COFIDE with an amount of USD 2,500.
Finally, he stressed the participation of the Regional Government in the agreement signed with the Ministry of Energy and Mining. As a result of the deal sealed, there will be the development of a virtual natural gas transport system by pipelines from the “Abra Toccto” sector to the plant itself and then distributed to tankers, to meet demand in commercial, residential, vehicular and industry sectors, in order to take advantage of the use of this fuel as soon as possible.
