The procedure proposed by the corporation, with a regulatory scheme developed by the Municipality of Lima, has 21 registered financial institutions, including major banks and so-called ‘Cajas’, almost entirely. “The Municipality has set the rules and, consequently, banks are interested in financing. This has been a good year, and we are very optimistic about the future of this activity,” Pimentel forecasted.
The executive praised the local CNG fuelling control system Infogas, which enables many people to access loans. “We have made banking services available for taxi drivers, whom previously had no access to credit,” he explained.
Lima’s Caja Metropolitana is part of the 21 organizations that have joined Cofide system. “In the case of Caja Metropolitana, it recovers the money by an amount that is separated from what is consumed daily in the CNG station by taxi drivers. In case of conversions to natural gas, the payment is made within 18 months, whereas you will have four years to pay if you buy a brand new vehicle,” Pimentel said.
