As reported in the newspaper La República, in late May there will be 14 CNG-powered buses on display at the Cerro Juli trade fair. The vehicles will also be touring the SIT routes.
Cofide chairman Jorge Ramos reported that the Financed Conversion Program known as ‘Cofigas’ will be implemented as well, in order to “switch diesel or LPG taxis to run on CNG, under a reference price of S/.3,000 (USD 1,132).” Moreover, the official said that the natural gas pipeline system will be reaching the region in eight months.
It is worth mentioning that, by the end of last year, Cofide had already financed the acquisition or conversion of 570 buses powered by CNG.
