The initiative includes transporting the natural gas by pipeline or in its liquefied and compressed forms. At the same time, electricity distribution companies are empowered to run natural gas related programs, including its distribution over their concession areas, pursuant to the current regulation, Andina news agency reported.
Minister of Energy and Mining Jorge Merino Tafur also spoke about the project, which includes output valves in Ayacucho and Kepashiato. “That gives us the opportunity to provide natural gas right over the poorest Andean areas, covering Huancayo, Huancavelica, Abancay, Andahuaylas, Puno, Cusco and Juliaca,” he said, and then added: “A compression station will be installed at these valves, and with this station we will call for tenders for carrying the natural by trucks to all these cities, where CNG pumps will be to sell cheap fuel to both transport small industry sectors.”
