At the same time, Freyre told the newspaper La República that the company has eight trucks with special containers for the transport of compressed natural gas, which will be carried every 48 hours from the plant located in Lurín, Lima. “When the plant of Marcona, in Ica starts to operate, the natural gas will be transported in just 24 hours”, he added. Every month, 10 million cubic meters of fuel will arrive in Arequipa: 4 million will be used by the industrial sector and the remaining 6 million will be used to power vehicles.
In turn, the regional president of Arequipa, Juan Manuel Guillén, said the government he represents is willing to concede a two-hectare lot in the Industrial Park for the construction of a regasification plant, after an agreement is signed between the region authorities and the state-owned Petroperú for this company to run the construction of the facility. On this particular project, there are no definitions revealed yet.
It is worth mentioning that the last mentioned firm has already signed an agreement with the regional government of Moquegua –it also plans to do so with the Puno region- as part of a project meant to generate consumption before the “Sur Andino” pipeline reaches the area.
