According to the local newspaper El Tiempo, the bus was tested on its driving and performance aspects with positive results. The unit has capacity to transport 80 or 53 passengers, depending on the model.
Modasa executive also stated that the company is negotiating with regional transport operators interested in deploying this type of vehicles. The objective is to thwart environmental problems and improve the quality of the service in the region.
It is worth mentioning that the mayor of Piura Ruby Rodríguez presented last week a project for the province to be the country’s first one to implement a Bus Rapid Transit system (BRT), apart from the Metropolitan corridor in Lima. Similarly, the vehicles would be powered by natural gas.
