Energy and Industry Minister, Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, said: “Qatar is blessed with abundant resources of natural gas and this agreement is compatible with Qatar government strategy to make the resource available to satisfy our growing domestic energy needs. We are delighted to work with Mowasalat on evaluating the potential of natural gas to satisfy the requirement of our public transportation sector. CNG has burning and environmental advantages that make it a sustainable and effective alternative to petroleum refined products”.
In turn, Chairman and Managing Director of Mowasalat, Jassim Saif Al Sulaiti, added: “Our company has been at the forefront of developing a modern, reliable and cost effective public transportation service in Qatar to serve the growing needs of our population. Both innovation and environmental protection are essential to our operations. We are very pleased to cooperate with QP in developing CNG in our public transportation sector “.
The state-owned petroleum company hopes that the experience serves as a starting point to expand the CNG refueling network in the country and to extend the use of natural gas to other fleets in Qatar.
