Yesterday, Rosneft also announced that Igor Sechin, the Governor of Stavropol Territory Valery Zerenkov and the General Director of Kamaz Sergey Kogogin signed an agreement to implement regional and municipal joint projects to substitute petrol and diesel with natural gas as a motor fuel. The parties plan to develop the local market for natural gas engine fuel, infrastructure, maintenance of NGVs, substitution of a car fleet with CNG-powered vehicles and equipments.
The oil and gas company and its subsidiaries operating in the region will offer the local government a long-range plan including the construction of CNG stations and the installation of compressed natural gas modules at existing locations. The parties also will seek to conduct field tests of new NGVs with transport operators of the region and vehicles and machinery supply manufactured by Kamaz.
Besides that, Rosneft and Kamaz have signed an agreement on scientific and technological cooperation to expand use of natural gas as a motor fuel. Both companies intend to conduct joint research and development in order to build methane-powered vehicles and build up necessary fueling infrastructure and service centers.
