Scania Argentina received Manuela López Menéndez, Secretary of Transport and Public Works of the City of Buenos Aires, at its facilities. During her visit, she learned about the range of sustainable transport solutions of the Swedish brand, including the Green Efficiency line’s trucks and buses powered by natural gas, which the company offers in Argentina since March 2020.
“From Scania we continue promoting the change towards a more sustainable and efficient transport system, and this objective is plausible to achieve only through the articulation of all sectors. That is why it is very important that Secretary López Menéndez has been able to know first-hand about the solutions that Scania can make available. It is a very important step to have the support of the public sector in the use of alternative fuels to diesel, such as natural gas and biogas,” said Andrés Leonard, President of Commercial Operations of the Americas Region of Scania.
Moreover, López Menéndez commented: “Joint work between the public and private sectors is essential to raise the quality of life of the residents of the City, the implementation of experiences and strategies in terms of sustainable mobility allow us to find different and innovative solutions. We have the same objective: assuming the commitment of cultural change, which is why we celebrate the fact that more and more people join sustainable mobility.”
In addition to being a member of the Steering Committee of the United Nations Global Compact, Scania is one of the leading companies in the field of sustainable transport, and has been developing various actions based on energy efficiency and sustainability for years. In this sense, the company delivered in 2021 brand-new trucks that are used for the collection of urban waste and for sweeping and cleaning tasks in the City of Buenos Aires. These vehicles run on CNG, reducing polluting emissions and noise levels.
Scania Argentina’s Green Efficiency Line is made up of trucks, buses and engines powered by alternative fuels to diesel, with a focus on natural gas (CNG and LNG) and biomethane, designed with the aim of achieving the lowest operating cost and allowing greater care of the environment.
