During his first speech, the Peruvian leader had guaranteed that his government would encourage the diversification of the energy grid in favour of natural gas and renewable energies.
Humala said the gas of that plot of land will be destined for domestic market. This initiative will make possible the construction of the southern Andean pipeline, which will carry natural gas to people who live in that region of the country.
According to the newspaper La República, although the finalization of the gas pipeline will take three to four years, the company will arrange other alternatives to transport the fuel where there are no distribution networks. It could be transported to the south as compressed natural gas or LNG, up to 1,000 kilometres.
