Asistencia para el Transportista (ASIS*T) and Gas Natural Fenosa Mexico signed a collaboration agreement for the supply of CNG at fueling stations in Toluca in a ceremony led by the municipal president Martha Hilda González Calderón. The project will involve an investment of 40 million pesos (approximately USD 3 million) to achieve the conversion from gasoline to natural gas of 5,000 taxis operating in the area.
González Calderón highlighted the commitment of both companies to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the amount of effort made to enable a modern, safe and efficient transportation system, which will result in the provision of clean, safe and competitive energy source for the urban transport vehicles.
This action, the mayor said, will represent a reduction of more than 42 million tons of CO2 particles, which equals 55% decrease of CO2 particles produced in the region annually. Likewise, she also said that transportation drivers will see a profit reflected in their pockets because the cost of natural gas is about half of gasoline.
Moreover, the Director of Industrial Markets of Gas Natural Fenosa René Sánchez Medina said that the company will invest 40 million pesos (about USD 3 million) to expand the distribution of the fuel and the construction of two fueling sites, one of which will be located in San Lorenzo Tepaltitlán and whose capacity will be 24 million of cubic meters a year.
Besides, the general director of ASIS*T Arturo Herrera Robles noted that the inclusion of clean fuels would positively contribute to Toluca’s quality of life and environment. Following the ceremony, representatives of various public transport companies thanked the municipal president to boost and support this kind of comprehensive projects.
