The Basque Energy Agency (EVE) announced that the call for subsidies in transport and efficient mobility has gone out and it will be effective until November 15, 2014 or until the budget of €1.5 million runs out. In order to reduce the consumption of oil-based fuels, the acquisition of AFVs and the vehicles conversion to such systems, as well as a refueling network to meet the clean fuels demand, will be encouraged.
Among the acquisition of vehicles, the program includes: natural gas powered light vehicles and also the conversion to this fuel system; hydrogen or hybrid light vehicles; hydrogen fuel cell heavy duty vehicles; CNG or LNG powered heavy duty vehicles or the conversion to these fuel systems. Natural gas and hydrogen refueling sites will be also subsidized.
The actions eligible for subsidies in efficient transport and mobility include, at the same time, other alternative fuels, in connection with not only purchase of vehicles and conversion but infrastructure, among other plans and actions.
The subsidies program launched by the Basque Government, through its energy agency EVE, to promote efficiency and renewable energy, provides a total budget of €28.4 million for the year 2014. Efforts will be directed to implement cost saving measures and promote renewable energy installations in large consuming sectors such as transport, industry and government, as well as in sensitive sectors such as services and households.
