According to local newspaper El Espectador, there is so much reliance on the gaseous fuel that exploration in the country has increased to meet the daily demand, which “exceeds 57 million cubic meters per month,” said Medina Mejía.
Currently, logistics companies such as TCC and Servientrega are carrying out pilot tests in their fleets with vehicles whose engines are powered by natural gas. Furthermore, public transportation companies in Barrio Valdés (Medellin) and Río Cali (Cali) began using CNG, besides Metroplús system in Medellin.
For truck and bus operators, one of the main advantages of this fuel is cost savings compared to other fuels while keeping the required performance standards for their fleets. “The business model of development has clearly changed and our cars demonstrate greater mechanical efficiency. All this leads to an increase in profitability,” said Oscar Hernán Rojas, fleet manager at TCC Group.
