“This is a great day for our company, our industry and our community,” explained Christopher Clements, CEO of Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc. “Through our 40 year partnership with Ryder, we are able to showcase our continued commitment to the environment with CNG vehicles that are both technologically advanced and safe to drive.”
Tucson’s fleet conversion is the initial phase of the drinks distributor’s NGV plan focused on reducing transportation-generated emissions and fuel costs. The initiative also includes a CNG filling station at Golden Eagle’s headquarters, in Tucson, whose groundbreaking is scheduled for January 2012.
Besides Ryder System’s collaboration, Golden Eagle has worked with Tucson Clean Cities, a coalition of which it is part, to carry out this CNG program. “We are proud to work with Golden Eagle Distributors and proud of their achievements in the clean alternative fuel arena,” said Colleen Crowninshield, manager of the Clean Cities Program at Pima Association of Governments.
