With an investment of USD 7 million, the U.S. technology company will initially organize the production of engine compartment equipment to switch vehicles to compressed natural gas. The total production capacity will be 100,000 units per year, as reported by tradingmarkets.com.
Furthermore, Honeywell will help to install a facility to produce CNG technological equipment (such as automated systems and fuel injection) for fuelling stations with a cost of USD 5 million and a capacity of 200 units per year. This project is scheduled for 2012.
This initiative is part of a government’s program, launched in 2007 to gradually switch to natural gas vehicles until the end of 2012. In addition, Uzbekistan has recently agreed with state-owned Korea Gas Corp. (Kogas) to build CNG fuelling stations in the country starting by the second half of 2011.
