With the project, YPFB aims to increase the transport capacity by pipelines for incremental gas refining disposal and transport natural gas by mobile system to 26 communities that will benefit from the fuel.
Until 2025, the company will raise the number of conversions to natural gas covering 55 percent of the vehicle fleet and will install refueling stations to offer the clean fuel. “As a result, public transport and private owners will be able to operate throughout the country with the guarantee that CNG will be available on every country road,” said YPFB president.
According to data recently provided by the Executing Agency for NGV Conversion (EEC- GNV), the number of vehicles converted to CNG from 2000 until September 10, 2013, totalled 268,561. Out of that figure, 168,558 belong to private owners and 100,003 to the public sector.
