The General Directorate of Resources and Support Services at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs started installing CNG systems to the vehicles used by the department. This initiative is part of its efforts to keep pace with the comprehensive development plan of the UAE in economic and social fields, and it is also aimed at anticipating and reducing the increase in transport-related gas emissions caused by the growing number of vehicles.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Ali bin Wadeema Al Ameri, Acting Director General of Resources and Support Services, the conversion of cars to CNG results from the agency’ belief in its role to improve the environment by setting a good example through the use of alternative and eco-friendly energy.
“The Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs pays a lot of attention to environmental aspects, and through a strategy of green applications, the negative impacts of various transportation vehicles used by the police will be reduced,” he said. “The directorate has developed a clear plan to increase the rate of environmentally-friendly cars as its standard, and will continue to develop this project until it reaches more advanced levels of eco-friendly fuel usage.”
In turn, Bauer Kompressoren has deployed a natural gas vehicle in Abu Dhabi, the first of the company’s five fleet vehicles in the UAE, which will refuel at a network of 21 Bauer CNG fueling stations in the country. The other vehicles in Bauer’s fleet will be converted to natural gas in the coming months. For Bauer, this changeover will contribute to reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.
