“This is another commitment of the municipal utility to the environmentally friendly fuel, natural gas,” remarked public utility CEO Norbert Walter at the delivery of the vehicles by the manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus Deutschland.
The ten air-conditioned units are regular replacements for older models. “We are delighted that Stadtwerke Augsburg presents these new natural gas buses,” added Robert Katzer, sales manager at MAN.
Furthermore, twelve more CNG-powered articulated buses will be added to Stadtwerke Augsburg’s fleet in late summer. The goal is to keep diesel buses away from the city’s ‘green zone’, where they currently represent about 4.5 percent of total bus mileage of the operator.
