Moreover, MAZ plans to offer other natural gas vehicles, including dump trucks. Their advance will depend on the availability of fueling infrastructure. CNG-powered buses can fit any market, but the company is eyeing Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine as promising ones. Non-CIS customers have also shown an interest, reported Belarusian Telegraph Agency.
“The development of a bus that uses a gas-powered Mercedes engine is virtually over. We plan to roll out the vehicle by September,” said Subbotin. “We will position these buses to make their prices comparable with those for diesel engine ones.”
It is worth recalling that Gazprom is investing in the expansion of Belarusian NGV market through its subsidiary Beltransgaz. As it does in Russia, Gazprom plans to implement a program aimed at increasing CNG sales, building facilities to manufacture natural gas-powered vehicles and expanding the fueling network.
