With support from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy, the government of Tarija Department launched the first phase of the plan which includes the transition of 300-bus fleet to CNG and involves an investment of 112 million bolivianos (approximately USD 16.3 million) to be allocated for the region’s capital city and other provinces within its territory .
Gov. Lino Condori Aramayo stressed that the main objective is to take care of the people’s economy and protect the environment.
On behalf of the transport union sector, leader Roberto Estrada commented that efforts began six years ago. “I want to thank you, Mr. Governor, for the unconditional support given to transportation in the conversion process,” he said.
Over the Enrique Flores management as director of the NGV conversion program and with the encouragement and approval of the governor, Tarija region achieve third and fifth generation transitions and now the switch from diesel engines to natural gas.
