The delivery of the units is part of the “Taxi Metropolitano” program, which aims to improve the lifestyle quality and the financial and social standards of taxi drivers in the Peruvian capital city. The financial institution seeks to encourage CNG conversions and promote fuel savings for drivers, estimated at about 60%.
Additionally to the credit, drivers will be able to obtain new benefits, including all risks car insurance, GPS for vehicle safety and a health plan for the driver and his family, among others.
By the end of June, Caja Metropolitana delivered the unit number 1,500 during a special event held at the “Taxi Driver House”, a new institution opened to add benefits to those already granted by the credit company. In that ceremony, general manager of Lima’s Caja Metropolitana, Julio Lazo Manrique said they expect to reach 5,000 CNG vehicles delivered by the end of the year.
