Since January, the van 35S14G model is tested by Martins Group in the capital of the state of Minas Gerais. In a six-month period, the vehicle will be operated for goods delivery. The expectation is to achieve about 20 deliveries, a total of 100 kilometers a day.
The truck trial with the CNG-powered Iveco Daily is part of the program developed by the company called ‘On Line Management,’ which aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 8%.
Besides Martins Group, companies from São Paulo selected by the Freight Transport Association of São Paulo Area (Setcesp) can verify the performance of this van fueled by natural gas. Six companies were chosen and each of them will operate the vehicle during a month.
Despite its curb weight is 250 kg higher than the diesel version, due to the five CNG cylinders it carries. In any case, this fact does not compromise productivity.
It is worth mentioning that the NGV technology used by Iveco is feasible for the Brazilian reality because the natural gas used can be obtained from the existing refueling network in Brazil, which currently totals approximately 1,700 stations.
