The activities of the educational campaign called “Discover the Metroplús experience” continue touring the city. Thousands of people have already got the articulated bus and enjoyed the travelling exhibition to learn about what the public transportation system in the metropolitan area is about.
In addition, Metroplús’ operator Metro de Medellín selected Peruvian company Modasa to import 20 CNG-powered articulated buses. The vehicles, which have capacity for 160 passengers, will run the route between the University of Medellín and Aranjuez Park. The seven million dollars agreement stipulates a period of six months for the buses to be delivered.
Modasa is known for providing buses for Lima’s Metropolitan corridor, whose fleet is entirely powered by CNG. This mass transit system was duly observed and analyzed by Colombian experts in order to repeat this experience in their country.
