Enerlim executive director Manuel Núñez said that this initiative paves the way for the country to start the conversion of heavy-duty vehicles to natural gas, such as trucks, buses and other public transport units. He also recalled that the Government has already granted licenses for the installation of more than 50 CNG stations, which will make the project even more feasible.
At the same time, Ditrén said that the OMSA current administration is interested in converting the state-owned mass transit fleet to natural gas. The executive considered that this objective “is a way to protect the environment” and deal with the increasing oil prices, Diario Libre reported.
In early May, President Leonel Fernandez officially launched a program for the massive implementation of NGV and permitted companies to start operations in a range of activities related to this particular business.
