The rally had a compact format with two stages that were repeated three times each one. The first was Caulès with his 17 kilometers of technical pure driving, close harpings and spectacular jumps. EPM Gas Technology team started the rally with car number six with Carlos Marcos and Lluís Pujolar, who were the perfect duo to drive the car through these beautiful Catalan stages.
Lluís Pujolar, codriver of EPM team said before the official race start: “This rally always requires a special driving due to the route characteristics. Year by year the organizers made an extraordinary job to put in six editions this race in a very remarkable place in the gravel championship. The experience of co-driving a rally car powered by natural gas is incredible; there are not too many opportunities to do that, so I am pleased to collaborate in this project with EPM Gas Technology”.
Carles Pujolar, the technical director of the team that assists the car in competition, explained how the charge process was: “The car refueling is very easy. The driver has to drive the car to the specific zone where all the racing cars do the refueling, and there, waits a portable NGV station of EPM Gas Technology. You have to connect the pipe to the tank and in two minutes the car was complete full filled of natural gas and 100% operative. It does not present any risk; it’s a really comfortable, easy, fast and safe process.”
On the way to service park, EPM Gas Motorsport driver Carlos Marcos explained:“It was a rally with difficult stages but really beautiful! These stages require a smart driving with no mistakes; in some places you can attack and in others you have to drive carefully if you want to stay on the track. Before the issue, we completed the first half of rally and now we started to push, so in next stages it could be interesting see the times. After all, we enjoyed the driving of the car and EPM Gas Technology made an excellent job with the gas propulsion system, which had no problem in all the rally. Our next racing challenge it will be in about forty five days in Tàrrega. Definitely we will be there with this fantastic natural gas race car.”
