Transportes Crespo y Cousido has added the third Scania natural gas vehicle to its fleet, thus becoming pioneers operating with this type of fuel in Galician territory. The new vehicle purchased is an R410 truck with a 13-liter engine and 2,000 NM maximum torque, powered by LNG, which works in conjunction with Scania Opticruise, Scania’s automated gear change system. The delivery of this unit was carried out by the Scania Hispania dealer in Pontevedra.
This company has 40 vehicles and is mainly dedicated to the transport of refrigerated containers. The Scania LNG truck will be dedicated to distribution for an important food chain from its Ferrol facility to southern Galicia and Asturias. In its quest to contribute to the environment, Transportes Crespo y Cousido is committed to incorporating efficient and sustainable vehicles into its fleet for the distribution they carry out for their supermarket chain clients.
“Our vehicles are dedicated to distribution in cities and we are aware of the restrictions that we will have in the not too distant future. These LNG vehicles have the ECO label, allowing us to work in areas that have access limitations,” said Enrique Crespo, manager of the company.
“I have always trusted Scania vehicles for their reliability and safety and since a year ago we started working with our first two Scania natural gas powered vehicles. Thanks mainly to the great fuel savings that we have seen reflected this year with the two trucks, we have not hesitated to opt for a new LNG vehicles. Furthermore, we have a refueling point next to our facilities and we know that the network will be expanded soon, so it will be even easier to make the expansion of NGVs a reality in Galicia as well,” added Crespo.
To always keep these vehicles ready, Transportes Crespo y Cousido added a maintenance contract that includes the repair of parts that can suffer wear with daily work during the next 200,000 kilometers per year. Likewise, the drivers were trained to obtain the maximum performance from the vehicles, perform efficient driving in search of lower fuel consumption and learn the simple steps to refuel LNG in an agile and safe way.
