Transport company Casais y Cia S.L. has relied on IVECO to begin the transiton of its fleet to natural gas, acquiring 18 Stralis NP 400. The Galician company shares with IVECO the commitment to sustainable transport and bets on the use of alternative fuels, such as natural gas. The delivery of the vehicles was carried out at Inturasa facilities, official dealer of IVECO in Galicia, in the headquarters of A Coruña.
“The IVECO Stralis NP 400 significantly reduces greenhouse gases, the consumption of these LNG vehicles is lower, and the noise of the engine is much reduced,” said Valentin Alfonsin Somoza, manager of Casais and Cia S.L. The food transport company already had IVECO vehicles in its fleet.
Alfonsin added: “The decision to renew the fleet with IVECO natural gas vehicles has been based on two fundamental factors: the high instability of the price of diesel, and on the other hand, the greater stability offered by natural gas, its price, and the legal measures aimed at reducing emissions of polluting gases and that we foresee will be implemented more quickly, so that in the short term we expect more restrictions to materialize for the most polluting vehicles and an increase in taxation of diesel, penalizing in a very important way the use of traditional fuel vehicles. In addition, it provides an added value for our customers by contributing to reduce pollution in their production processes.”
The LNG IVECO Stralis NP 400 are powered by an Euro VI IVECO Cursor 9 8.7L natural gas engine developing 400 hp and a maximum torque of 1,700 Nm. The Stralis NP is also the first natural gas truck with 12-speed automated transmission, which guarantees lower fuel consumption and greater driving comfort. In the LNG-only version, the higher capacity fuel tanks increase the range, which reaches a record distance of 1,500 km.
