The tender had been announced by Moscow Department of Transportation and Road Infrastructure Development in April. In the period 2011-2012, Gaz Group delivered to the city over 2,700 LIAZ buses valued at RUB 22 billion (about USD 700 million), reported Autostat Analytic Agency. The buses to be delivered in 2013 are equipped with both natural gas and diesel engines from MAN.
It is worth mentioning that, in line with the aim of encouraging NGV sector in the country, Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin took part in a meeting headed by President Vladimir Putin on the use of natural gas as a motor fuel in Russia, which was held in Sochi a few days ago. Almost simultaneously, the Government has stipulated that over 50 percent of public transport buses in major Russian cities should be converted to run on methane.
