“CNG has established itself as an eco-friendly and economical fuel alternative. Hyundai will now offer this choice of fuel to its Santro Xing, i10 and Accent customers. This will increase the attractiveness of these models as it will bring down running costs,” remarked Y.S.Lee, regional manager at Hyundai Motor India Ltd. The company is expecting to commercialize more than 100 units of the new NGVs in Hyderabad per month.
The kit features a 60-liter CNG tank to be fitted in the boot of the car, and should be installed at the dealer level by Hyundai in order to keep the factory warranty – as the equipment is approved by Hyundai India. The vehicles are expected to offer mileage of 16-21 kilometers per liter on non-highways and more than 21 kilometers per liter on highways.
Moreover, those who have purchased non CNG variants of Santro and i10 within past one year or who have not roamed more than 12,000 kilometers may also have CNG kit fitted, informed IndianCarBikes. With the rising petrol prices, the demand for the CNG vehicles has gone up substantially and the country’s second largest automaker is hoping to capitalize it.
