Allison’s technology for Tata Motors CNG buses

Tata Motors, the official transport partner for the Commonwealth Games, worked with a dedicated Allison Transmission engineering support team along with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to accomplish this massive public transportation program. Allison established a product support command centre in Delhi staffed with Allison’s technical experts, service engineers and highly-trained service technicians.

The benefits of switching from a manual transmission to a smoother, more efficient Allison automatic transmission has been evident as more people are embracing these buses and enjoying the technology,” said managing director of Allison Transmission India Ram Amarnath.

It is worth mentioning that the DTC had recently added over 2600 Allison-equipped Tata Marcopolo low-floor CNG powered buses and about 700 Ashok Leyland low-floor CNG buses to its fleet. In turn, Tata Motors recently delivered to DTC four CNG-electric hybrid low-floor Starbuses to be used also during the games.
