According to Strait Herald, this is the first batch of CNG buses that become operational outside Xiamen Island and represents Xiamen government’s efforts to reduce exhaust gas emission. Each vehicle is priced at 400,000 Yuan.
The brand-new fleet will be served by the closest refuelling station, located in Guankou of Jimei District, about 20 kilometres away from the Jimei Bus Terminal. Meanwhile, several departments are planning to install a CNG facility at the Xiamen Bei (North) Station.
It is worth mentioning that in the next three to five years, the number of natural gas-driven buses in Xiamen will be increased up to 1,500. Local authorities aim to replace 50 per cent of all buses in the city.
