Through a tripartite agreement, the company is partnering Astrakhan Oblast and OOO EKTOOIL to introduce new technologies aimed at improving environmental protection, reaching global standards and ensuring safety and comfort for passengers and drivers in Astrakhan. The initiative is expected to replace Euro 1, Euro 2 and Euro 3 vehicles with Euro 4 and 5 NGVs.
This plan will not only increase the number of CNG vehicles in Astrakhan Oblast but will also develop a service infrastructure for stable and effective functioning of such vehicles. In addition, the parties plan to jointly conduct presentations, technical conferences and events to promote this fuel. “Natural gas is better than traditional fuels. It is cost-effective and pollution-free, less toxic. This is why the agreement we’ve recently signed is important and useful,” said Alexander Zhilkin, governor of Astrakhan Oblast.
Kamaz intends to carry out operational tests of new CNG-powered models and take part in the development of measures to modernize passenger and cargo vehicles in Astrakhan. The feedback from regional motor carriers on operation and design will be carefully studied in order to improve OJSC Kamaz product quality. The project will also include special offers (through the lease system) to supply companies with Kamaz vehicles and Nefaz buses as well as original spare parts and units.
Sergey Bolotin, General Director of OOO EKTOOIL, commented: “We formed a plan approved by the mayor of Astrakhan to develop a network of multifuel filling stations placing them in different regions of the city. The latest high-tech Korean, Italian and Russian gas equipment meeting all production safety standards will be used at each fueling station.”
