MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd has sold more than 7,000 CNG buses on the European mainland and now these units have debuted in the United Kingdom. The company featured a left-hand drive example of its highly successful product range and local interest will dictate the eventual introduction of a right-hand drive version.
According to the manufacturer, they have been the consistent leader in Europe’s natural gas powered bus market. “We have had tremendous interest in CNG vehicles from operators,” said Tony Griffiths, MAN’s bus operations manager.
It is worth mentioning that the company’s natural gas engines, which meet the exhaust requirements of the voluntary EEV standard, are also suitable to use biogas. Large fleets of MAN buses are currently running on biomethane in both Sweden and the Netherlands.
