The automaker sold 17,500 vehicles of Alto in July 2012 compared to the over 24,000 units that it sold in July 2011 and, according to the company, sales numbers dropped due to rise in petrol and diesel prices. Thus, there are already reports and speculations that Maruti will unveil a CNG variant at the time of the model launch
The 2012 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, which will replace its current M800, is planned to be the next ‘People’s Car’ of India and to reinstate its position as the best-selling car with natural gas technology. It will feature an improved quality over the standard Alto and has been modified to offer more space and comfort, according to ONcars.in.
Earlier this month, the Indian manufacturer announced its plans to launch a CNG version of the Alto K10. Both new Alto 800 and Alto K10 are expected to be launched in the next few weeks, in time for the festive season.
