Guanajuato seeks to be at the forefront in the application of renewable energy in transportation systems and launched a clean mobility program in the state. As part of this project, the companies MAN Truck & Bus México and Volkswagen Camiones y Autobuses have tested VW buses configured with a natural gas engine, as well as electric commercial vehicles, in the municipality of León.
The Governor Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo highlighted that Guanajuato is proud to have these companies committed to the application of technology for the benefit of the environment. “We are proud to witness the presentation of the new era of Volkswagen Mexico mobility with commercial vehicles and MAN buses, which use energy that is friendly to the environment, and which can be a proposal for an efficient mobility solution for our state,” he said.
Steffen Reiche, CEO and President of Volkswagen Mexico, mentioned that the company has a global commitment to achieve a zero impact on carbon emissions by 2050, and to achieve this objective the production plants of Guanajuato and Puebla implement actions in favor of the environment. “In Guanajuato we have found a modern vision of the State Government to do things focused on growth, for the benefit of the population and the environment; that is why we are proud to be able to contribute to that vision with a modern, efficient and sustainable plant,” he explained.
“Guanajuato will spearhead the introduction of clean technologies throughout the country, our commitment to the environment does not end here, that is why we present Volkswagen’s vision with vehicles that are at the height of the new era of mobility,” the businessman added.
