“We processed an application with the federal government, with the Secretariat for Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) and, as a result, we will support the purchase of new buses but focused on natural gas. 30 million pesos will be allocated for 150 buses and 250 taxis,” the official summarized. According to an article published by El Universal Querétaro, negotiations between the government and the service concessionaires for the implementation of the project are being taken. “The condition of this specific program being carried out by SEDESU with SEMARNAT is that buses should be powered by natural gas”.
López Sánchez expects that the plan will be executed in 2013: “It has to be this year. The agreement was signed on September 23 and is in progress. Funds are already agreed, 15 million pesos comes from Querétaro Government and 15 million from the National Government”.
Querétaro has already opened its first natural gas refueling station and has a capacity to serve about 1,000 vehicles a day. “Currently, there are about 200 NGVs, plus the 300 or 400 CNG vehicles that would be added,” said the official, reported Reqronexion website.
