Moreruia also stated that the government is in negotiations with suppliers from India and South Korea to provide 150 buses running on methane. Initially, these buses can only be used in Maputo (the capital and largest city of Mozambique) and the neighbouring city of Matola, since these are the only places in the country where the company Autogas has refuelling stations with CNG pumps.
Regarding the financial support, there will be a new fund set up by a government decree of September 15th stating that 60 per cent of the profits from selling transport licences and 5 per cent of the fuel tax will go into this fund, explained the director of economics and investment in the Ministry of Transport, Angelo Mavie. He also clarified that the funds will be transferred from all the companies and institutes supervised by his Ministry.
